Configure Data Sources

Object Graphs must be built on accessible business data sources. In Data Source Configuration, select a source that an administrator has created and authorized. Verify the connection before using it for graphs or AI Generation.

Switching an existing graph's data source may affect objects, relationships, and field mappings. Back up the current semantic definition first, then check each difference after switching.

In AI Reverse Modeling, click Link Dataphin Data Source to associate the current database with its corresponding source in Dataphin for later retrieval of metadata, SQL, and lineage information. Data source management permission is required to maintain the association.

  1. Configure and enable the Dataphin app connection, including personal credentials for querying and confirming available sources.
  2. Choose a source whose type, database name, and connection information all match. Confirm at least one available schema in Select Linked Schema. Unverified schemas cannot be selected.
  3. Click Save Association. Saving creates only the association; it does not immediately import metadata or modify the current semantic model.

To model with Dataphin materials, an administrator must also configure platform credentials for AI Reverse Modeling in App Connections. Then enable Use Dataphin Reverse Modeling on the modeling page. Personal credentials are for configuring associations and cannot replace the platform credentials required for modeling.
